Animal care can be viewed from the fence line. Visitors are kept a safe distance from the animals. Staff and volunteers will answer questions and explain the purpose and general operations of the Center. Be sure to visit our gift shop. The center is open for visitors during daylight hours. If you have a large group please call ahead to make arrangements for a tour. Group tours are handled through the Center for Marine Studies.

Please note that pets are not allowed near the animal enclosures for their safety and well-being, as well as for the health of the Center’s patients. Visitors are asked to park their vehicles in the parking area in front of the Center.

Confused on how to get to MMCC?

For those of you who have accessed the MMCC via the Angel’s Gate Park entrance at Gaffey and Leavenworth for the last two decades and wonder why that road is not accessible any longer for the public, the Department of Recreation and Parks has determined that the road is closed for “safety reasons”. If there are any questions, please contact the Department of Recreation and Parks:

Mark Mariscal, Superintendent of Operation – 310-548-7643 or via email at or
