Getting Here

The Marine Mammal Care Center is located at 3601 South Gaffey Street #8, San Pedro, CA 90731.

For directions, we recommend Google Maps and search by “Marine Mammal Care Center” and not by our address. Once you reach South Gaffey Street, continue to 32nd Street and make a turn up the hill onto Barlow Saxton Road. Then, follow the signs to the Center.

If you’re using GPS, please double check that the directions are the same as the ones below.

  • Take the 110 Freeway SOUTH until it ends
  • Turn LEFT, heading SOUTH on Gaffey Street
  • Turn RIGHT at 32nd Street (Barlow Saxton Road), also the entrance to John Olguin High School
  • Follow the road up the hill, then back down to Leavenworth, and make a RIGHT at the Military Museum
  • Turn RIGHT into our parking lot, just after Angel’s Gate High School

FAQs

Please keep your voices quiet and do not shake the fence.

If you arrive early, we recommend visiting attractions like the Korean Bell, Point Fermin Park, or Downtown San Pedro.

Yes. MMCC welcomes anyone needing to bring their trained service dog to our center during their visit. Service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work. Anyone with service animals must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls during their visit.

Other animals, including emotional support animals, are not permitted in patient viewing areas due to the disturbance/stress they can pose to the wild animals we are rehabilitating. Additionally, some diseases can be transmitted between dogs and our patients, and our policies seek to minimize this possibility. If you have any questions about this policy, don’t hesitate to contact MMCC staff before your visit.

Yes, parking is free and right in front of our hospital.
